Mightier than the Sword

A step backwards for the Evolution Revolution

From staff and wire reports

NEW YORK - A Marriott hotel room was destroyed and a household name tarnished this week when rowdy members of the funkadelic band Lancelot Link and the Evolution Revolution vented their frustration at low record sales. A spokeswoman for the hotel stated that the room sustained nearly $9,000 damage over the course of a two-night stay by the band, which just announced their North American tour was in financial jeopardy.

"Draperies were shredded, the bedding was destroyed, and the Nintendo GameCube controllers were apparently chewed up," said Margaret Walters in a statement released by Marriott, Inc. "There was also evidence that the chandelier in the entryway of this room had been used as some sort of trapeze." A $416 fee also appeared on the hotel bill, attributed to 73 in-room requests for the OnDemand movie "Dunston Checks In."

The band may have been frustrated with disappointing reviews of their newest album, "The Missing Link", which debuted at a paltry 472nd on the Billboard Top 500 chart. Chaos surrounding the simian rockers is nothing new, and transgressions frequently reopen the debate over the behavior of America's favorite entertainers. Outraged parental groups were quick to denounce the music industry's profitable glorification of narcissism, self-indulgence, and chimpanzees dressed as people. The Evolution Revolution's manager declined to comment, and band members threw fecal matter at reporters when asked about the fiasco.
