Me on the summit of Cadillac Mountain, elevation 1,530 feet. |
More Cadillac. The views were beautiful, but there were tons of people around, so it wasn't as peaceful as some other summits. |
Tarn Pond, which borders most of the Tarn Trail (naturally). |
From the Tarn Trail we took the Ladder Trail toward the summit of Dorr Mountain, which is right next to Cadillac. The Ladder Trail was mostly stone steps, metal rungs pounded into face rock, and exposed ledges- it was a very cool trail, and even better, almost completely deserted. |

I think it's a rule that you can't visit Acadia without taking pictures of rocky coastline. |
The same rule applies to sailboats near rocky coastlines. |
This is one of my favorite photos- I had to lay on the ground to get it, but it was worth it. |
Hypnotizing waves swirl below the Park Loop Road. |
We camped at Mt. Desert Campground at the top of Sommes Sound, the only fjord in the continental United States. The campground had these floating docks going out into a little sheltered harbor area where the water stayed pretty calm. |
Another cool trail we did was the Beehive Trail- more metal rungs and exposed ledges. |
This is the Beehive- the trail winds up the face and then slopes down the back around a little lake called The Bowl. |
Near the top of Beehive |
The Bowl- a wonderfully sheltered and quiet area. I felt the more serene here than anywhere else in the park. |
